Sweet Beans
1. Taking a sample
Place 20-50 grams of sweet beans in a beaker and mix well with a plastic spoon. Apply 2 or 3 drops of sample onto the prism surface. For sweet beans with low water content, soften the sample as much as possible by kneading thoroughly.
2. Measuring Method
● Hand-Held Refractometers
1) Apply 2 or 3 drops of sweet beans onto the prism and press the sweet beans onto the prism with a plastic spoon to help the sample spread evenly over the prism surface.
2) Look through the eyepiece. Read the boundary line where the blue and the white color meet. This is the Brix (%).
If the boundary line is not clear, point the refractometer toward a fluorescent lamp or other bright light source.
